Also, there’s such a thing as FBI Police.

That’s excellent! I hate driving or riding near taxis.
I saw the opposite of that in DC. A biker weaving around cars, running red lights, generally being an asshole. He got pulled over by a Metro PD cop. I took a picture, sent it in with a “thank you” attached.

As a bicycle commuter and ex-racer, I approve of this post!

This is correct, the FBI Police would be their uniformed division that’s in charge of security and law enforcement at their headquarters in Washington, the National Academy campus, and all their field offices and other facilities. Actually, a very large number of federal agencies have their own police forces with similarly narrow jurisdictions.

I knew they existed; I actually took some pictures of FBI Police cruisers when I was in DC last summer. Still, it sort of sounds like “Police Police”.

Yeah, a law enforcement division of a law enforcement agency. I think there was even an FBI director in the ‘70s or ‘80s that actually proposed that field agents should have uniforms for ceremonial events and such, which if it went through, would have made their police look even more redundant.
